Dr. Richard Grossman
It is with great sadness that I share that our co-founder, friend and fellow Board of Trustee member Dr. Richard Grossman has passed away.
Dr. Grossman’s legacy will live on in the eyes of all the brave children he has treated and in the continued work of the Children’s Burn Foundation. It is with deep appreciation to Dr. Grossman for helping position us as the premier children’s foundation providing surgical, medical and psychological support and burn prevention education. The strong vision he provided laid the groundwork for our success. His inspiration will guide us as we continue our work without interruption for decades to come.
Since its founding in 1985 by Dr. Richard Grossman and actor McLean Stevenson, Dr. Grossman has been an unwavering supporter of our programs. We embraced his vision when we reorganized the foundation in 1995. Inspired by Dr. Grossman’s early vision, we began expanding the reach and influence of the foundation from early years at the Grossman Burn Center at Sherman Oaks Hospital to burn centers throughout Southern California and the nation. The Children’s Burn Foundation has become a regional, national and international leader in burn treatment for children, burn prevention and burn education.
Since 1995 when The Council was first established, this group of 70 strong female community leaders and supporters, have helped sustain the work of the Children’s Burn Foundation as we continue to grow and expand our reach.
Our sincere condolences to Elizabeth Grossman, his wife, Dr. Peter Grossman, one of his sons, who continues to work with the Children’s Burn Foundation, other members of the Grossman family and the many people who love him.
We will miss him and will continue his vision.
Chairman, Board of Trustees
